How waste is turned into heating: visit to Spittelau waste incineration plant

The Municipal Department 17 – Integration and Diversity (MA 17) offers free visits to the Spittelau waste incineration plant as part of the CORE project. Interested people with a refugee background have the opportunity to look behind the colorful façade of the waste incineration plant and to learn interesting things about the topic of heating.

During the guided tour the participants look deeply down through the glass bottom of the control cockpit into the huge garbage bunker. And they take a look at the technology of the control center, which controls the waste incineration plant. In addition, they get to know the Vienna waste, recycling and disposal system and learn how heat and hot water are generated in an environmentally friendly way.

Registration:
The guided tour will take place on 8 July 2019 from 10 am to noon at the waste incineration plant Spittelau / Spittelauer Lände 45, 1090 Vienna. Registration for the visit is either possible through the workshop "Waste Management", which takes place regularly in the CORE Center or directly by mail to ramesh.badami@wien.gv.at. The MA 17 coordinates the appointment with the waste incineration plant Spittelau.

The guide is in German with language support for Farsi, Arabic and Pashto. Further information here
