CORE and the City: How safe is Afghanistan?

For some time now, asylum seekers have been increasingly deported from Austria to Afghanistan. While the Austrian court expert Karl Mahringer comes to the conclusion that the security situation in parts of Afghanistan is stable and thus safe for returnees, a new report of the German Afghanistan expert Friederike Stahlmann relativizes this assessment. For people who are committed to people from Afghanistan, many questions remain open against this background. It is unclear how the situation in Afghanistan can actually be assessed. This creates uncertainty especially among those who are involved in the process monitoring of Afghan asylum seekers.

As part of the "CORE & the City" event series, the CORE project will dedicate an event to this topic on Monday, November 26. Interested parties will get an overview of the situation in Afghanistan as well as the humanitarian situation of returnees and will have the opportunity to discuss questions about the security situation in Afghanistan with the two experts Friederike Stahlmann and Norbert Kittenberger.
